Our History

Medical City Decatur has deep roots in Wise County. Opened as a 50-bed Decatur Community Hospital in 1974, the hospital was built to meet the growing healthcare needs of Decatur and the surrounding area. Over the decades, the facility expanded and evolved alongside the community it serves.

In April 2001, the hospital rebranded as Wise Regional Health System, reflecting its broader role in the region. Then, on December 1, 2023, the facility became part of the Medical City Healthcare system, one of the largest healthcare providers in North Texas. Today, Medical City Decatur is a campus of Medical City Denton and is licensed for 150 beds.

This growth has allowed us to bring more advanced services and technology to Decatur while keeping the personal, community-centered care that has defined us from the start.
