Our Story
La Cubana is rooted in the soulful traditions of Cuban cooking. Every sandwich, pastelito, and cafecito we serve carries a story. Our recipes come straight from our mother's kitchen, where food was more than nourishment — it was how we showed love.
Our mother was a Cuban immigrant who poured her soul into everything she cooked. She didn't just feed people — she cared for them, comforted them, and brought them together around the table. She owned a restaurant when we were growing up, and her kitchen was always full of music, stories, and the aromas of home. Every recipe we serve — from our slow-cooked ropa vieja to our rich, dark Cuban coffee — comes from her hands and her heart.
We started La Cubana in 2016 with second-hand equipment and a dream. Our first setup was a tent at the Downtown Farmers Market. Over the years, we've built (and rebuilt) our trailer ourselves — first from an old RV, then from a repurposed lawnmower trailer. When the pandemic hit, we paused and shifted focus to our home, our garden, and our growing flock of chickens and goats. But the dream never left us.
Now, in 2025, we're returning to where it all began, fully rebuilt and more inspired than ever. Our trailer, with its Miami Art Deco design, is a celebration of heritage — and every dish we serve is a piece of our story.
