Welcome to BATA

BATA is a fire-driven restaurant located in the heart of downtown Tucson on Toole Avenue. Every item on the menu has been touched by fire, and many of the ingredients are locally sourced from Arizona — squash, beans, and other regional staples that connect each plate to the desert landscape.

The kitchen draws from an eclectic mix of culinary traditions — Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Middle Eastern, and French — creating familiar dishes with a unique twist that can only be found here. The result is a menu that's adventurous without being pretentious, playfully plated and full of complex, layered flavors.

Inside, the dining space is earthy and warm, with low lighting, natural elements, and an open-concept kitchen where guests can watch their dishes being prepared over live fire. Whether you're seated at a booth along the window or at the bar facing the kitchen, the atmosphere invites you to slow down and savor the experience.

What Our Guests Are Saying

Lovely dinner at Bata. It's been on the bucket list and it did not disappoint. The malawach — my goodness the flavor! Steak cooked to perfection. Our waiter and other wait staff were attentive and awesome. Will return and recommend.

High end. Earthy. Dark. Mix of modern and natural elements. Bata serves familiar dishes without being pretentious, yet has a unique twist that can only be found here. The food was playfully plated and some dishes too pretty to eat.

The food was excellent, every dish was flavorful, touched by the fire and offering great combinations of texture, flavor and color. The Malawach was awesome, buttery and flaky. We both left contented.
