About Selama Grotto
Over 100 years of fellowship, fraternity, and community service in St. Petersburg.
Our History & Mission
Selama Grotto was founded in 1921, and we proudly celebrated our 100th anniversary. For over a century, our Prophets have gathered in St. Petersburg, Florida to uphold the values of good fellowship, brotherly love, and charity.
The Grotto is an appendant Masonic body, which means all Prophets (members) must be Master Masons in good standing. Our fraternal bonds run deep, and we welcome visiting Masons to experience our fellowship firsthand at our monthly Stated Meetings.
Our charitable focus centers on helping children with disabilities receive dental care. Through the Grottoes International Humanitarian Foundation and our local Dr. of Smiles program, we work directly with families, dentists, and volunteers to ensure that special kids get special smiles.
Member Spotlight: Jeff Snyder
Jeff Snyder is a dedicated member of Selama Grotto, a Past Monarch, and currently serves as Grand Master of Ceremonies for Grottoes International. He is a Past President of the Florida State Grotto Association and is set to become Grand Monarch in 2029.
A retired Army Reserve commander and law enforcement officer, Jeff has served in intelligence, logistics, and various tactical roles. Jeff's leadership, service, and passion for the Grotto embody the spirit of good fellowship, friendship, and fun that Selama Grotto stands for.
