Meet the People Behind Helping Hand

Experienced, caring doctors who believe everyone deserves great dental care.

Dr Spencer V. Lynn, DDS

Dr Spencer Lynn grew up in Idaho, where sports were a big part of his early life — he even received a scholarship to play basketball and attend school in Hawaii. After earning his undergraduate degree, he was accepted into dental school at the prestigious New York University in Manhattan, where he trained under some of the brightest and most progressive minds in the field.

At NYU, the epicenter of diversity, Dr Spencer found a desire to extend a hand beyond what a normal dentist would do — even beyond his own practice to help people globally. Living in South America for a couple of years and seeing good people struggle shaped the idea that would become Helping Hand Dental Clinic.

Dr Spencer has spent countless hours pursuing continuing education, training at the White Cap Institute and Smile Systems. He is one of fewer than 20 US dentists qualified to perform 3 on 6 treatments. He is a member of the Central Arizona Dental Society, American Dental Association, and Mission of Mercy. He speaks fluent Spanish and is currently learning ASL.

Spencer married his wife Laura, who is from Glendale. Together they are raising two daughters in West Phoenix. When he's not in the office or planning his next outreach trip, you'll find him hanging out with his family — hiking, traveling, catching waves, or wailing on his drum set. His goal is to leave the world a better place, and you'll often hear him say, "Do some good for someone today."

Dr Chad Haak, DDS

Dr Chad Haak was born and raised in Northern California, in a small town between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. After a year of college, he traveled to Spain to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He continued his studies at BYU and went on to dental school at the prestigious University of the Pacific in San Francisco.

After graduating, Dr Haak moved to Arizona, where he met his wife Ashlie. They settled down and now have four children — two girls and two boys, ages 8 to 16. In his free time, Dr Haak loves spending time with his family, playing sports, going to the gym, and being outdoors.

Dr Haak has always had a passion for healthcare and helping others in need. He has spent years training across all different aspects of dentistry and practice varieties so he can best treat his patients. He takes real pride in the care he provides.
