Experience a slice of San Francisco's history at The Fly Trap, an iconic restaurant since 1883. Nestled in the vibrant Yerba Buena Garden District and just a stone's throw from the Moscone Center and the Modern Museum of Art, The Fly Trap has been a gastronomic landmark since the late 1800s.

Its distinctive moniker harks back to a time when horse-drawn carriages filled the streets, and the original owner creatively used fly traps to protect food displays. Over 140 years later, The Fly Trap continues to celebrate San Francisco's rich heritage.

Our kitchen serves California cuisine with a menu of small plates, hearty large plates, and a curated selection of wines, cocktails, and craft beers. Whether you're stopping in for happy hour or settling in for a full dinner, you're part of our enduring legacy.

Our dinner menu features a range of small plates perfect for sharing — from Chicken Skewers with chimichurri and Baked Goat Cheese with pesto and pine nuts, to Fried Calamari with fennel and citrus aioli and our Meatballs in tomato stew.

For larger appetites, try the Grilled Ribeye with potato gratin and herbed butter, the Risotto with shrimp, mushroom, citrus, and parmesan, or the House Made Gnocchi with spring peas, asparagus, and basil. We also offer the Fly Trap Cheese Burger and an Impossible Burger for those looking for something more casual.

At the bar, our cocktail list features house originals like the Fly Trap Martini, the Passionfruit Margarita, and Smoke & Mirrors with mezcal and charred tonic. Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday from 3–5 PM and all day Saturday.
