Meet Our Team
The people behind microBIOMETER® — passionate about soil health and making testing accessible.
Laura Decker — President
With over 20 years of experience in public accounting, corporate financial reporting and planning, small business development, and management, Laura has brought her skills to Prolific Earth Sciences to grow the company. She is tasked with educating regenerative growers and environmentalists in the importance of soil microbial biomass to soil health, and can often be found on Zoom talking about the power of knowledge and data as soil stewards work to understand the importance of soil microbial life.
When not working to help the earth, Laura can be seen hiking, snowboarding (badly), and playing in the wonderful Pacific Northwest.
Janet Doherty — Director of Sales and Marketing
Janet brings extensive experience in business management and marketing to Prolific Earth Sciences. She has spent more than 30 years working in a number of business roles including accounting, administrative, bookkeeping, marketing, and sales. In 2007, she started three blogs which enabled her to gain valuable knowledge in content writing and website promotion, leading her toward a passion for online digital marketing.
At Prolific Earth Sciences, Janet has created a social media presence with a following of close to 20,000 and has played an integral role in enhancing the company's website. Her role has expanded to include communications with current and potential customers, distributor agreements, product pricing, and negotiating large international sales. Under her management, sales have increased in the US and to over 100 countries.
Marisa Flannery — Soil Scientist
Marisa, a native of the Hudson Valley, joined the microBIOMETER® team in June 2022. She acquired a Master's degree in Environmental Science from Pace University with a focus in soil science. Throughout her graduate studies, Marisa spent summers in Costa Rica analyzing the microbiomes of medicinal plant species native to the region to help determine the role they play in the ecosystem.
Marisa's role in the company includes test development and quality control, research and content creation, and customer support. When she's not in the office or lab, you can find her outside bird watching or scouring the forest floor for native wildflowers.
