Rowing Programs

Youth and adult programs for rowers of every level

Youth Programs

SRA's youth rowing program draws teens from over 25 area schools on Seattle's Eastside. Whether your child is brand new to the sport or looking to compete at a high level, our experienced coaches will guide them every step of the way.

Rowing helps young people develop leadership, teamwork, dedication, and commitment. Our youth crews compete — and win — in local, regional, and national races. SRA is proud to be home to the 2026 Northwest Youth Regional Team Champions.

Financial need should never be a barrier. SRA offers a scholarship fund so that every young person who wants to row can have the opportunity.

Adult Programs

SRA's adult program welcomes rowers of all experience levels. Whether you're a first-time rower looking to learn or a seasoned athlete training for competition, there's a place for you on the water.

Adults train before or after work, during the day while kids are at school, or in retirement — whatever fits your schedule. Our masters' crews compete at regional and national events, and SRA is home to the 2026 Northwest Masters Regional Team Champions.

Beyond competition, rowing at SRA is about fitness, camaraderie, and a lifelong connection to the sport. Many of our adult rowers have formed lasting friendships at the Hod Fowler Boathouse.

Learn to Row

New to rowing? SRA's Learn to Row program is designed for beginners of all ages. No prior experience is needed — just a willingness to try something new.

Our coaches will teach you the fundamentals of rowing technique, water safety, and teamwork. It's a great way to discover whether rowing is the sport for you, and many of our current competitive rowers started right here.
