Since 1988, the Vigneau family has owned and operated The Round Hearth at Stowe — once known as Vermont's most famous ski dorm. In the early days, skiers from all over would bunk up here for affordable trips to the mountain. While the demand for ski dorms has faded over the years, the family's love for this place never did.

They repurposed the building into The Round Hearth Café & Marketplace, keeping the spirit of the original gathering place alive. The iconic round hearth — a hand-painted wood-burning fireplace at the center of the café — remains the heart of the space, just as it always has been.

Today, visitors can enjoy pastries, coffee, sandwiches, and salads fireside, in the dining room, or outside with mountain views. The marketplace offers a curated selection of high-end antiques, local art, and Vermont treasures. And for those looking for a place to stay, lodging is still available on site.

Often times, resort towns grow and lose their charm. The Round Hearth continues to hold onto its roots as a legitimate piece of "old Stowe," serving locally sourced, high-quality ingredients turned into beautifully presented meals around that beautiful fireplace. It's a local treasure — and we're glad to share it with you.

We serve breakfast and lunch all day, every day, from 8 AM until 2 PM. Our menu features homemade pancakes, build-your-own omelets made with fresh eggs, hearty sandwiches like the Vermonter and corned beef reuben, homemade English muffins, fresh-baked pastries, and salads.

Our coffee and cappuccinos are a favorite with regulars and visitors alike. We're counter service, which means you can order at the front, grab a seat by the fire or out on the patio, and we'll buzz you when your food is ready. It's casual, it's easy, and the food speaks for itself.

We're also dog-friendly on our outdoor patio — we even have peanut butter pup treats. During April, May, and November, check for shoulder season hours.
