Common Medications Used in Psychiatric Treatment
We offer evidence-based medication treatment and support for conditions such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, ADHD, insomnia, and more. Our care is rooted in trauma-informed principles that create a safe, collaborative space where healing is possible. We prioritize non-controlled medication options when clinically appropriate and emphasize that medication is often most effective when combined with appropriate therapeutic support.
Common medications used include:
- SSRIs (e.g., Sertraline, Paroxetine, Fluoxetine)
- SNRIs (e.g., Venlafaxine, Duloxetine)
- Prazosin (used to reduce trauma-related nightmares associated with PTSD)
- Beta Blockers (e.g., Propranolol for anxiety-related physical symptoms)
- Mood Stabilizers & Atypical Antipsychotics (e.g., Lamotrigine, Quetiapine)
In some cases, medications may be prescribed for uses that are well-supported by clinical research but not specifically listed on the FDA label. These decisions are made carefully and discussed with you as part of a personalized, evidence-based care plan.
Comprehensive Psychiatric Care with Integrated Supportive Therapy
My approach combines careful diagnostic evaluation and medication management (when appropriate) with brief, skills-based supportive therapy to ensure you feel heard, understood, and actively involved in your treatment plan. While medication can be an important tool, it is never the only focus.
Each visit includes collaborative discussion, education, and practical strategies to support emotional regulation, resilience, and overall well-being. For clients who may benefit from long-term or stand-alone weekly psychotherapy, I coordinate referrals to trusted licensed therapists.
Support is offered to children (ages 6+), teens, adults, and elders across Florida and Arizona who need to be truly seen — not just treated.
