We opened the wall between the kitchen and dining, replaced the soffits with recessed cans on two circuits, and built a 9-foot island in rift-sawn white oak with a matching integrated hood. Counters are honed Silestone; backsplash is zellige to the ceiling.
A dated bath became a bright, roomy suite: full Schluter waterproofing on the shower walls, a pebble-tile shower floor for grip, and a warm walnut vanity that carries the room's palette. Trim work and grout lines were held to the tolerances that make a small room feel large.
The finished shot is the easy part. This is the day the uppers went up on a Bothell build — shimmed to plumb, screwed to studs, and scribed to the ceiling before a single door touched the boxes. Island cabinet frames staged on the floor, level lines snapped on the wall, and the room set up so we can hit the tile sequence next.
